It hasn’t all been farts ‘n giggles for Frodo the Gay German this summer. Summoned to Nuremburg to face accusations of war crimes, Schmidt’s basic defence of “I wasn’t even born yet” may not stand up against fierce cross-examination from staunch anti-Nazi prosecutors. Erich entered the annals of sports history for his historic display of golfing prowess at the first annual Tribe Invitational last spring. Carding an astounding score of 62 was made all the more remarkable when one considers that Erich took only 4 holes to register his record score! Well done, German! Closer to home, this editor has been embroiled in a five year lawsuit with Mr. Schmidt’s lawyers for allegedly referring to Eric as a gay man (not that there’s anything wrong with that). This editor would like to plainly state, once and for all, that the term gay was not used to denote sexual orientation, but instead to express a state of happiness, nothing more. Those Saturday Night Live Schmidt’s Gay commercials, while being very amusing, were really in poor taste, and since then Erich has been denied the huge heterosexual appeal of other Tribesmen, such as Richard Walters. Look for the German to have a breakout season, especially if he’s able to avoid injury and lazy excuses for missing games. His speed, skill, and two-way style make the team infinitely better and more well rounded when he’s in the line-up.
